Moderator Christopher Starr, MD, FACS, of the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, and George Waring IV, MD, FACS, of the Medical University of South Carolina, discuss corneal inlays for treating presbyopia. Dr. Waring explains there are many ways to reduce patients’ dependence on reading glasses, but that inlays are the only way to simultaneously fix the refractive error. According to Dr. Waring, it may be possible to perform a dual procedure, wherein surgeons cut a thin flap to perform LASIK and create a pocket for placement of a corneal inlay.
